Effect of BioSave® and Carnauba wax on Decay of Cranberry

The object of this experiment was to determine the efficacy of BioSave® 110, BioSave® 1000 and carnauba wax on decay control of cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon Aiton), and select the best treatment for further evaluation. Each Bio Save® product was sprayed on fresh cranberry alone or followed by a spray of carnauba wax. The cranberries were stored at 13°C. Disease development was recorded after 4, 8, and 16 weeks. Coating with carnauba wax consistently result ed in lower disease incidence than uncoated treatments. Bio Save® 110 reduced total decay during the 16 weeks. BioSave® 1000 was effective during the first 8 weeks. The best treatment, BioSave® 110 with carnauba wax, reduced the total decay by 60%, 42% and 33%, after 4, 8 and 16 weeks, respectively.
