Author Guidelines

Manuscripts, excluding all references, charts, figures, and tables, should be 4000 – 5000 words. Images, while included in the article submission, should also be uploaded as supplemental content during the submission process.  Images should be jpeg's at least 1MB in file size. Title the image using first authors last name and figure number (for example, AuthorFigure1.jpg).  Authors should also submit a short bio of 150 words or less; this bio should also include a digital photograph of the author, suggested key terms, author’s twitter handle (if available), and a list of twitter handles to share the article with upon publication.

Manuscripts must adhere strictly to guidelines set in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition: http://www.apa.org/pubs/authors/manuscript-check.aspx. Space all text using single space paragraph format and Times New Roman font, including quotations and references, and provide one inch margins all around. In addition, double space between headers and the body, double space between images and the body, as well as single space between images and image headings. References must be complete and placed at the end of the manuscript. Do not include the title page, abstract or key words with the uploaded manuscript, as they are included separately in another field.

Submitted articles cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). Please note: "publication" in a working-paper series does not constitute prior publication. In addition, by submitting material to Journal of Art for Life, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at Journal of Art for Life. If you have concerns about the submission terms for Journal of Art for Life, please contact the editors.
