Abstract

Xiphinema variurum sp.n. found in the rhizosphere of Quercus petraea in Montenegro (Yugoslavia) is described and illustrated. The new species is characterized by body length of 3.6 mm, lip region separated from the rest of the body by a weak depression, odontostyle length of 120 µm, anterior vulva (V% = 34), two equally developed female genital branches devoid of any "Z" differentiation or spines, and short convexconoid, dorsally convex and ventrally almost straight, or slightly convex, tail with more or less distinct bulge near ventral profile; exceptionally without bulge or with a rounded peg. X. variurum sp.n. is similar to X. index and X. mammillatum from which it differs by its longer body and anterior vulva.
